The first athlete to sign a four-year Athletic scholarship, in any sport, in history at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in 1978

United Press International All-American in Basketball

First player drafted in the 1982 National Basketball Association Player Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, 24th pick overall

Bachelor of Science in Urban Affairs, with minors in Political Science, Business, and Sociology – University of Alabama at Birmingham, 1987

Inducted into the First Class of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Sports Hall of Fame.

Inducted into the 2008 Class of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. One of only 16 basketball players in history.
